Hello, I need advice- what is the best internet discount trading firm? I need one that can do short sales effortlessly. What about Ameritrade, E-Trade, etc?
Also, what does Level 2 NAsdaq get me?
AlbertV

I don't think anyone will be able to give you much help without your providing more information.

How often do you plan to trade (trades/month)?
How long do you hold positions (minutes/hours/days/weeks/ months)?

The 'ideal' trading firm for an active trader is very different than the best firm for someone that might make a few transactions per month. Assuming that you are only making a few transactions per month, E*Trade, Ameritrade or the like should be adequate for your needs.

As you trade more actively, commission rates, available routes, software etc. become much more important.

Nasdaq Level 2 gets you the order book for potential buyers and sellers at currently non-marketable prices.

In other words, Nasdaq Level 2 shows you the "depth" of interest (at different price levels) for buyers and sellers.
