If it's a given, than should we let them know they've scored a major hit?

Too funny.

I think they knew they had scored a major hit--regardless of our emotional reaction--when the Pentagon took a direct hit and two of the symbols of America's economic power disappear in the course of a couple of hours taking a few thousand to their deaths.

If a similar event again takes place within our borders, I'd expect the same emotional reaction. God help us should we ever become inured to high-casualty terrorism simply for the sake of "not giving them what they want." You are sadly, sadly mistaken if you think a change in attitude will deter this kind of terror.

I suppose you propose to deal with terrorism by ignoring its effects when we are on the receiving end of it. A fine tactic for dealing with unruly children but I'm afraid it's a bit on the edge of fantasy when dealing with folks like OBL.

Your point is a bit esoteric and highly unrealistic. And it has very little relevance to the purpose of this board. I feel a bit intellectually downmarket discussing this kind of fanciful stuff so I'm done with it.
