Mephisto, I just watched the Dan Rather interview with Peter Lance. I'm not quite sure what to make of this. My gut tells me that Lance has just written an excellent piece of propaganda. The TV interview was the typical "Fear, Fear, Fear" formulaic images of swarthy men engaged in conspiracy. The FBI's role was described largely as one of incompetence. I believe this is disinformation. Greg Palast [[ gregpalast.com ]] has come up with actually documentation from the FBI directing field agents to 'stand down' on investigations. Palast's view, which I share, is that there were some very questionable ties between rogue elements within the FBI, CIA, etc. and the al Qaeda organization. While Peter Lance may spread red herrings about FBI incompetence, the truth appears to me to be far more sinister. Here's the link to the book: amazon.com
