Lease Rates - Here they go again.

kitco.com

From TheBullionDesk:

"Lease rates show the cost of borrowing precious metals over a certain time period. Fluctuations in lease rates can occur as concerns arise over the amount of metal or 'liquidity' available in the market and this reflected in higher or 'tighter' borrowing rates.

Higher lease rates can also bring about greater price fluctuations in the spot markets - for instance, a trading house may borrow large volumes of metal from the market in order which has the effect of forcing other borrowers into buying back their short positions, rather than paying the very high lease rates."
