<< AD-Aware lack of updates >>

I use Ad-aware 6 Plus, Build 6.181, with Ad-Watch (in addition to SyBot - S&D, Spyware Blaster, and SpywareGuard).

Ad-aware 6 Plus reference file updates are very frequent. There was one a day or 2 back, and a new one today (01R21604.09.2003).

When I've run it without Ad-Watch live, it has been catching tracking cookies and data miners not blocked by the others. It just blasted 6 of them after the latest scan.

Note that the individual who wrote Langa says:

I have version 6.0, they have stopped Update access to any release less than build 181.... If I cannot even manually download and install the Updates to my older build of the current version, then this utility will go into my Dumpster and I will never use Lavasoft again.

Sometimes one gets what one pays for.

Best,

- Eric -

Hi Gottfried, I've been using SpyBot Search & Destroy. Had a Toolbar that would not go away with AD-Aware. Spybot cleared that baby for my screen. Like the features also. Free !

WEP and wi-fi security: in the Linksys DHCP set-up the default number of users is 500. This guy suggests changing it to the actual number of machines you have [mine is 2]. That prevents intruders from accessing your signal [?], providing your machines are running.

I don't know, but it can't hurt. wi-fitechnology.com

There shouldn't be an issue here? All one has to do is download build 181 and the updates are current and the program seems to do it's job very well, and it's free.
