Thank you, Michael. I agree and I would also point out that there are a huge number of other factors that influence birth rate. I think the primary predictor is the educational level of the society being measured.

The point I was trying to make was that the type of overstated, oversimplified analysis that Coulter employed was simply a tool to villify a Democratic program. There are many problems with the "war on poverty" that can be discussed, but the statement that Coulter made is particularly distasteful. It subtly links the war on poverty with black and white illegitimacy. These are moral, economic and religious minefields and her sneaky little subtleties and subliminations are cleverly designed to fuel intuitive divides based on conservative/liberal differences that are not nearly as pronounced as she would have us all believe.

We should be bigger than that.
