brent, is sperm a life that should be protected at all costs?

hi skeeter. the sperm and egg each have only 23 chromosomes. it is only after they are joined to form 46 chromosomes do you have a newly created human life. therefore you may say that eggs or sperm are "alive" or living, but they are not a human being. there is no such thing as a human with only 23 chromosomes. not only that, but the new life that is created at conception has different chromosomes than the mother, so one cannot make the argument that the newly created life is just a part of the mother, such as her hair or her arm or some other part. you can analyze dna from the woman's hair or her fingernails or her skin or whatever, and it will all have the same 46 chromosomes. but not the newly created life! it will contain chromosomes from the mother and the father, making it a unique individual.

it is a creation with unique dna and a full 46 chromosomes, which all humans have.

p.s. i realize that on rare occasions people might end up with one extra or short a chromosome. it doesn't change the fact that you cannot be human with only 23 chromosomes.
