Nice thoughts - reduce violence by containing the aggressors with their victims (Iraqi innocents and the Kuwaitis). I do not suppose you have given much thought to the deaths that have occurred in Iraq as a direct result of the containment? Now you want to wish that upon the Kuwaitis?

I need to read more Kant, but if you are invoking him then Utopia = Kant and Reality = Hobbes.

<<<As I said, an embargo, in order to be effective, would have to be airtight, complete, and carried out till it got results (years, that is). If we want to create a non-violent world, we are going to have to become far more self-disciplined than we are now. Maybe after Hezbollah detonates a nuke in Haifa, and Al Queda detonates a nuke in Los Angeles, we will be sufficiently motivated, to achieve that level of self-discipline >>>

Effective and airtight? How about those 7 tunnels coming into Israel from Palestine. How about that oil flowing illegally in a pipeline from Iraq to Syria. How about those ship loads of drugs leaving N Korea. How about those Egyptian, Syrian and Iranian terrorists coming into Iraq today?
. Many of those borders extend 900 miles through mountains
<<< Carried out till it got results(years that is)?>>>

Nice thought- how long should we give the Administration to create a new Iraq - help form a government, get rid of the Saddam holdovers, and rebuild the place before saying its never going to work?
Why is it taking more than 5 months ?
We need better war plans, the next time we should allow for 300,000 Military, 500,000 construction workers to rebuild what we destroy, and $500 bil to recompence the civilians since they.lost their regular jobs with the Government and its army.
In the main, sanctions will seldom work. It is not an exciting job, especially when everyone back home is enjoying the ball games and election campaigns or writing on the . internet.
