I don't believe that is true, and in fact there are very few economists outside of folks that are constantly quoted on the clown thread that think that.

It is possible but not probable imo.

The problem is, people who follow charts are trying to discern a pattern in the market to tell them what to think about the economy. They have a whole TWO bearish periods to base their assumptions on, 30s and 70s. It is a sampling issue in my view.
