They don't automatically award the $25,000 prize to some texan. In fact, winners come from a variety of places. The problem with you texans (just one among many) is that you don't try good chili elsewhere and therefore don't have any basis for comparison.

Having said that, I must admit that there are more good chili joints in Texas than anywhere. But they are not all south of the Red River.
