United Nations vs. the United States of America

With the US interested in pursuing its policy of "democritization" of the Middle East and unilateral defense of the Israel position are we at total odds with Europe as to how IRAQ should be handled?

Is the attempt to reach a decision with the United Nations Security Council just another ploy to excuse the cost of war? and further put the USA into debt?

Can the US and the United Nations reach a common ground on IRAQ or has the BUSH administration let the US with this black hole to handle on its own?
