These Alternative Madrassahs, would serve Moslem populations, in areas where there is often no funcioning government-run education system,

What is needed, quite simply, is for the governments in which these religious schools exist, to enforce minimum educational standards..

Any kind of madrassa is worthless if all they teach their students is how to memorize the Koran. It would be as if Jesuit colleges suddenly dropped all curriculums in favor of bible memorization...

If these people can afford to build madrassas, the governments can afford to regulate them for content and instruction.
