MILPITAS, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing raised its third-quarter revenue guidance and said the third-quarter loss will be narrower than previously estimated.

This would mean third-quarter revenue of $134 million to $138 million. Including Chartered's share of Silicon Manufacturing Partners, third-quarter revenue would be about $183 million.

"The increase compared to our July outlook is primarily due to moderately higher demand from customers in our computer segment," the company said.

Chartered put its third-quarter loss at 30 cents to 34 cents an American Depositary share, compared with its July estimate of a loss of 31 cents to 35 cents an ADS. Wall Street is looking for a third-quarter loss of 35 cents an ADS.

In the year-ago third-quarter, Chartered posted a third-quarter loss of 56 cents an ADS on revenue of $129.5 million.
