Suppose the woman says "No! Stop! Leave me alone!" Is persistence after that rape or not?

Depends on circumstances. If they are sipping coffee after a meal in a public restaurant, the bill has been paid, she is clearly free to leave, he leans over and says "oh, come on, you don't really mean that, do you?" that is persistence, but not rape. At least, in my view; X and other initial posters may disagree.

If they are in his apartment and he is persisting in trying to kiss and fondle her, then it is rape. Or more accurately at that point assault, but perhaps leading to rape.

That's the problem with discussing generalities. Circumstances are key.

Your question, I note, didn't seem to have anything to do with the statement of mine that you quoted, that "there is a manner in which consent can be given not in words but physically."

The woman doesn't have to say "yes, I consent to having sex" in order to consent. If she is undresses him, fondles his sex, strips teasingly to bare skin, lies down on the bed, opens her thighs, and smiles enticingly at him, even if she says nothing, I would take that as consent given physically, not in words.

I would not think in that case it was necessary for her to also consent verbally to having sex.

Would you?

A woman can commit rape

I do not think this is possible....
