The main way to know what symbols are available is to scan ActiveSymbols.txt. We post a copy of that periodically in quote.com.

For more indirect info, one also inspect the MktHours.inf file. Searching for CME:ES, this is the result:

:CME:ES##?,CME:NQ##?,CME:FE##?,CME:RL##?,CME:MD##?,CME:MR##?,INDEX:EPREM.X

The line describes in a coded pattern the names of CME: products that share the same market hours (described on previous lines in the same file). ES is the E-Mini, NQ is the Nasdaq 100 E-Mini, and RL is the Russell. ES##? means ES, followed by two numbers, followed by some other character. E.g., ES03U is a symbol that would match the pattern.
