For some reason I remember downloading the program, but when I would hit the install icon I couldn't install it so I gave up (that's if it was ZA - it might have been another program - my memory on these types of details is bad)" given that you're not sure if za is on that pc or not, you need to look in programs and see if it's there. you should look in add/remove programs and see if it's there. if it's there, follow these steps. if it's not there, follow as many of these steps as you can.... 1. uncheck "load at startup" item from the za control center. 2. reboot system. 3. check in task manager (assuming w2k or wxp) for zonealarm and/or vsmon.exe running. if they are there, let me know, because it is not going to uninstall cleanly. 4. if they are not there, run the uninstaller from add/remove programs. 5. reboot again, if not prompted to do so by uninstall. 6. remove any remaining files in \windows\internet logs\folder 7. install new version if i'm doing the above steps, i also add a step between 6 & 7... i run regcleaner and let it clean up any unneeded registry entries with the other machines on the network shut down, and the dsl modem and router powered down, and a fresh za executable file (the new version you wish to install) downloaded and ready to open, things should go well good luck
