The only pleasant thing I recall about all the dealings with that trust department was something my mother said. She had driven down for one of these "let's look over your investments" sessions after my father died, and they had said with supposed modesty, "We will just have to get out our crystal balls." Then the conversation continued, but as my mother was leaving she said brightly, "Well, keep your balls polished!" The guys all stood there and looked at each other. Then she thought to add, "I mean those crystal balls you were talking about!"
