This does show what I've observed all along. The country was ready for the Iraq trip, and any blame is fairly non partisan. It's why I'm so sick to death of the the incessant Bush-bashing, and clowns like FatBoy here in Massachusetts coming out of the woodwork late in the game to complain about our soldiers being over there.

A democracy will only work as well as it is a "marketplace for ideas”. If “independent voices” fail in their responsibility, expect costly blunders. In this case, a quiescent congress (as part of a cynical political calculus), and a sycophant “Fourth Estate” provided no alternative voices.

What really makes me want to puke is the idiots I've encountered who claimed they voted Nader and now are furious at this administration. Yet I doubt if many of these jerks (and even more so the large number of people who didn't even vote in the first place) have learned from this that voting in a presidential election is no joking matter in this country.

Everyone has their own view. I believe that an entrenched corrupt political duoply provided a Hobbesian Choice in 2000, (as I said at the time) between dumb and dumber. Hence, I suspect that many of Nader’s votes were merely in protest of the choice with which the electorate was presented. So, until the “system” is altered such that one doesn’t have to “hold one’s nose” when they vote, I think voting is a joke – and a cruel one.
