<<THOMAS EDISON'S BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY>>

Westinghouse and Edison had a conflict going on. Westinghouse wanted DC current and Edison wanted AC current. Westinghouse did a road show where he executed animals to show how dangerous AC was. In one event an oranagtang caught fire.

NY. William Kemmler, retarded, convicted of an ax killing. Westinghouse volenteered to pay for an electric chair to kill Kemmler. Shows AC is dangerous. As I recall from what I read in the farmers journal, Kemmler sat in the death chair as the room was being built around him. They also were low on amps and cooked him to death.

On the topic of books, just read Robert Littell's The Sisters. You may remember him as the author of The Company, a classic CIA novel. Evidently, his earlier novel, The Sisters, also a "classic" on the CIA, has been reprinted and appears as a new book on library shelves. If you haven't already read it--I had not--I highly recommend it. Now I'm going to see if the libraries have copies of other books he's written.
