Don't understand that statement at all. If they are in bull markets how can it be a "bear-type play"? The most money has been made in those areas in the last 3 years and this could continue. Just because it isn't high PE crap doesn't make buyers bearish does it?

The other argument would be that any bullish world economic recovery would actually benefit these "bearish" plays as they did in the mid 1990s. I am quite sure that Fleck is doing pretty well with his PAAS.

Exactly
IMO you have to respect any bear that is up this year.
I bet Fleck is.

I call them "bear-type plays" because those
are issues that the longer term equity bears are playing as longs, rather than going long on other equities that have done well this rally such as tech, banks, internets, etc (as well as all that other "high PE crap"). No, playing those doesn't make one bearish, but that is what I see many bears playing as longs. It's like saying that many leprechauns wear green clothes, but not all those that wear green clothes are leprechauns. <g>

As far as making the most money has been made in the last three year, I don't think it's been made going long on the ones you mentioned, but instead on shorting the telcos and networkers, among others. But since March it has been a time to go long on those sectors, just as it has for many others.

Yes, Fleck is doing well with his PAAS, and his AMD as well.
