Hopes? No. One should watch this tragicomedy without getting too much involved, or risk losing his sanity.

By the way did you notice the neocons are now advocating more troops and a lot more money for Iraq? Sounds like my program of months ago. And did you notice the army hiring back Saddam's secret police to help with intelligence?

Also, there are no more noises from the administration about Iran's noocular programs, and there are an awful lot of farsi-speaking "Iraqis" protecting the surviving ayatolahs in Najaf with nary a pip from the administration. Maybe a new alliance is blossoming before our very eyes -- hey, maybe the Iranians will solve the troop problem in Iraq.

Just don't take things too seriously LB :-)
