Without EGO you are NOBODY...because by definition you are not differentiated. Also, there is a difference between faith in a spiritual teacher and being rational enough to question the Kool-Aid? Once you accept without question you are simply the next Kool-Aid drinker. "Having faith in a spiritual teacher allows us to feel humble and get closer to Enlightenment or God." Or it might get you to that funny comet? It is sad when people conflate the search for a more profound existence with an unquestioning support for anything which ignores reason in favour of an unquestioned "faith" "People will usually see them as some sort of crooks, frauds etc.. That is again the ego at work" NO. That is what they usually are. And without any "proof" that any particular ONE is Holy or True...Well, I guess you can see that their lack of agreement is proof that (apart from reason) the choice would be purely arbitrary and meaningless. But meaningless or not..SOME people seem to feel more comfortable believing they have sacrificed their EGO (Self) to some Extra-Egoic ideal...and they never tire of telling you so! :-)
