Leonas, Those flat roofs are the lairs of beasts that prey on personal flying vehicles.....note the many vertical trap posts......unseen until the hapless beast is trapped, to be emgulfed. Due to the low breeding rate the thousand shown on early magazine covers(amazing Stories, Astounding, etc) have been largely cleared from the sky.
You are partly correct. The layered one grown by thermal regime change can be detected if the temp ramps are large. With proper control this layering can be controlled and a continuous growth cycle maintained by a flow gradient from a war point to the cooler growth point. With time it gets better.
The plasma grown one are harder to detect and they can also have a few scattered impurities added to mimic natural stones.

The nitrides serve as diamonds in industrial uses, but not as gems. boron nitride is what you refer to. There is no such thing as "borazon nitride"
