I read an article about the tank crewmen being used as Infantry and grabbing AK-47s, Mike. So I am sure it is happening. Yeah sure...you of all guys, arguing that because you read it somewhere it is true! Seriously..we agree that it was tankers not Infantrymen. I can easily believe what you read too. Using enemy weapons and ammo has always been done. And occasionally tankers have to leave their tanks. Each 4th ID Brigade also has a heavy engineer company...They don't all carry rifles either...but their secondary mission is to fight as Infantrymen. The report you read and found disturbing is actually SOP in our combat units.
