I had to laugh out loud at the protest of one librarian-
"We are so not like that anymore!"
I immediately pictured her with a nose stud and a ring in her bellybuttom.

Don't know if anyone is even remembering the good Judge Roy any more, but happened on this, and thought it was interesting.

I'm with you. I like quiet libraries. From 3:30 to 5:00 our library is filled with high school students, which is great, but they work on their homework in noisy groups, which is definitely not great.

There are so few places in this country that try to preserve quiet, that the library needs to protect its status as an oasis of calm and peace.

I'm also with you on the value of reading. Piffle on those who would deny Bacon.
