energyplay,

>>ADRs (Depsoitory Reciets) for foreign companies. He made a negative remark about them, but I was not able to get more details...

As I understand Jimmy Rogers has brokerage accounts in the countries/currency where he would buy stocks and buys the primary shares of a company. What happens to ADR's for example is if the US market takes a dive the ADR's go down along with the general market or go up and get overpriced with the general market.

This can be an opportunity if you track the value of these stocks as they are trading in their home country. You must know the ADR share equivalents and currency conversions to get an idea if the ADR’s are cheap or expensive relative to the shares trading in the home country.

If I own a stock and think it is cheap I have gone to other markets to see what the rest of the world is willing to pay for it.
