This may help to explain the WMT move, Peter - WMT and TGT downgraded at Bernstein -- time to take some profits Bernstein downgrades WMT and TGT to Mkt Perform from Outperform as both stocks are approaching firm's target prices and firm believes potential for positive earnings revisions is already embedded in valuation.

And it will happen by 2007, as WTO agreements require the currency to float. John Snow made a recent trip to jawbone for such a development, to no avail. China has pegged its currency to USD. Though Japan has no peg, BOJ sells yen to push it down against the dollar. Many are not aware that Japan's trade surplus with China is now roughly equal to its surplus with the US -- japantimes.co.jp Walmart is now the 8th largest destination of Chinese exports, the first seven being sovereign nations. Until a better hypothesis comes along, I'll go with this one: three powerful economies have a mutual interest in dollar status quo.
