nationally-Popular Toys Into Internet-Enabled Business Tools'

FT. MYERS, Fla., Sep 8, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The first in a series of
applications of an exciting new patented wireless technology which links camera
phones directly to the Internet has been unveiled by NeoMedia Technologies, Inc.
(OTC BB: NEOM), an innovator and international leader in making information
faster and easier to access.

NeoMedia's PaperClick for Camera Cell Phones(TM), available first for the
Nokia(R) 3650 camera phone, reads UPC/EAN and other bar codes through the camera
to link the user quickly and directly to the corresponding Web site or
information.

"Our technology turns these internationally-popular toys into Internet-enabled
business tools, a marketing dream-come-true for savvy companies and
product/brand managers who know the value of having direct online connections
with users," said Chas Fritz, chairman of NeoMedia.

"Everyone who's seen PaperClick For Cell Phones calls it 'the killer wireless
app' for this burgeoning marketplace," he said. "And with the number of camera
cell phones skyrocketing, the possibilities open to business and consumers using
our exciting new technology are many . . . almost endless!

"As NeoMedia introduces versions for other top camera phones, PaperClick For
Cell Phones has the potential to spread across the 1.4 billion phone mobile
market like text messaging, now a $42 billion phenomenon," he said.

Fritz said NeoMedia is actively seeking licensors among cellular service
providers and phone manufacturers in the U.S. and in Europe "who can embrace and
enable this breakthrough technology. Our strategy is to enable every camera
phone on the market with few - if any - modifications to these phones. We
currently work with the Nokia 3650, and expect to announce versions of
PaperClick For Cell Phones for more popular camera phones from Nokia and other
leading manufacturers over the next year."

Direct Link from to the Internet

Pioneered and patented by NeoMedia, PaperClick reads and decodes UPC/EAN or
other bar codes to link users to the Internet, providing information and
enabling e-commerce. It employs a standard browser, optional client software,
and a network of online service and applications servers transparent to the
user, who simply takes a with the phone and is automatically connected to
tailored on-line Web information.

PaperClick For Cell Phones installs via the phone's infra red (IR) port, the
BlueTooth(R) wireless network, or by download using its built-in browser,
requiring only 11.3KB of memory. With software currently implemented for the
Symbian(TM) operating system. PaperClick For Cell Phones supports UPC-A, UPC-E,
EAN-13, ISBN and PaperClick codes. A previous version of PaperClick runs on Palm
Pilot(R) PDA's.

PaperClick For Cell Phones for the Nokia 3650 phone is expected to be available
in the fourth quarter, with versions for other popular Nokia Series 60 phones,
including the Nokia 7650, and phones from other leading manufacturers to follow.

Public Debut at Symbian Platinum Conference Next Week

NeoMedia has been named a Symbian(TM) Platinum Partner, "gaining recognition as
one of the top technology innovators and service providers in the mobile
industry," said Fritz. Symbian is a software licensing company, established in
June 1998 and owned by Ericsson(R), Nokia(R), Panasonic(R), Motorola(R),
Psion(R), Samsung(R), Siemens(R) and Sony Ericsson(R), and supplier of the
Symbian OS(TM), the advanced, open, standard operating system for data-enabled
mobile phones.
