It would be wrong to think that man cannot be a factor in the process of climatic changes and they are not caused by man, he said. "Yes, flows of man-controlled substances are relatively small in comparison with the tectonic and solar activity. The main mistake is that the regulation of the climatic system still remains beyond understanding and the size of the regulator does not affect the size of effect on the system," he believes. Recent decades have seen a record rate of temperature changes and an increase in the number of natural anomalies, said Danilov-Danilyan. "As regards climatic changes, not only the global warming of the climate - draughts, floods and hurricanes - should be born in mind," he continued. Europe has experienced all climatic changes in recent years - floods last summer and an unprecedented heat this summer. "Mankind should take steps to prevent the climatic system from getting out of balance - cut the amount of noxious emissions and secure environmental safety in the human habitat," he stressed. In his view, the first important move in this direction can be ratification of the Kyoto Protocol. In this matter, Russia actively cooperates with European countries, using their expertise and modern energy-saving equipment, which is among the best in the world today, he explained.
