Ted, Because Bustamante is Lt. Governor under a less than charismatic governor. What does that tell you about the caliber of Bustamante?

Nothing, except that Davis has been in the game longer than Bustamante. Does that make him better than Bustamante? On the contrary, Davis had five years to prove how incompetent he really is.

You check out Davis's resume; then check out Bustamante's.......at least on paper, Davis is much better qualified.

As for Davis being incompetent, that's GOP spin. Thanks to Bush, state deficits are common in almost every state.....CA's is bigger because the state's economy is bigger, the 5th largest in the world.

The problems around energy deregulation were not Davis's fault.....it was a combination of problems arising from being the first to do something and from the questionable business dealings of energy companies. Back when it was proposed, it was hailed as the best thing for states and would herald a new era in energy regulation or the lack thereof.

As for the problems over eliminating the state deficit........in CA, the GOP and the Dems have been at odds with each other for years. The Dems have dominated and controlled things; however, the GOP is the spoiler and plays hardball until the Dems. bend to their wishes. Its their partisanship that has kept things tied up and the deficit unresolved for months, not Davis.

Here's my point: Davis is being supported by the DNP, who wants nothing more than Davis' fund-raising abilities (i.e. special interests) and CA's 52 electoral votes. They don't mind if CA goes to the dogs, as long as they can blame it on Bush.

And here's my point.........Issa saw that Davis was vulnerable and went after him with the full support of the GOP. The GOP liked the prospect of getting another governship feather in its cap. The deal got struck behind closed doors........Issa get's rid of Davis in a recall with his own money and the GOP would support his race for the governship.

But then Ah-nuld came along to screw the deal. Why do you think Issa was crying? He spent millions only to have to walk away with a screw in his back.

BTW the GOP cares as much or as little for CA as the DNP. It too is focused solely on those 52 electoral votes. The difference between the GOP and the DNP.....the GOP started it. I think only once in 100 years has a recall been done to a sitting governor. And this time the governor is neither incompetent or dishonest.....just a neb. There is more reason to impeach Bush then to recall Davis.

It is all pure politics.......hard driving, in your face, BS politics, started by the GOP three years ago when the presidential election became a tossup between Gore and Bush. There has been animosity before between the two parties but never like this. How long did you think the Dems would put up with being spit on their collective faces before they started fighting back? And btw, its bound to get uglier before it gets better. The bad blood has been spilled!

Davis is nothing more than McAuliffe's lap dog, which explains why the usual DNP suspects are supporting him over that maverick Bustamante.

Is this a far-fetched conspiracy theory? If you think so, then point to three positives in Davis' track record that make him a better choice than Bustamante.

Bustamante entered the Assembly in 1993. He was born in 1953. Below is the link to what he did during the 40 years between birth and his political position in the Assembly:

Now here is Gray Davis's biography. If, after reading the two, you can't answer your own question, then its hopeless and I won't even try. ;~)
