It's pretty well known that Saddam and Al Qaeda were opposed philosophically.

Saddam the iron fisted secularist wanted nothing to do with the Islamist fundamentalists.

bin Laden and Saddam did not trust one another. Saddam enjoyed cigars and whiskey. bin Laden abhorred the use of either.

This was widely known through out the intelligence corps. Where have you been? Holed up on the couch watching Fox news?

The Saddam-9/111 connection is a big fraud. Al Qaida was not connected to Saddam in any way. They hated Saddam. But they were connected with both the Taliban and the Saudis.

Fact: When I was in London shortly after 9-11 trying to raise $$$ from a Saudi prince, his assistant told me the meeting had to be cancelled. He told me on the sly all royals had been called home, and that before 9-11 when they were in Dubai all the guys were talking about "something big" that was going to happen to the US.

Bush has covered up for the Saudis on several occasions. The links between Bushes and Saudis go way back and are continuous. You want a conection, there it is. But Saddam was out of the loop on that one, not connected.
