Terry. It's real simple. We got very hot with our gold and

silver stock picks and timing of those trades.

Via PMs with a few friends we've pieced together that it was precisely this exceptional performance YTD has apparently been viewed as a threat to a guy on a neighboring thread who's peddling a paid newsletter that focus' on precious metals stocks. He's got a loyal and, unfortunately in some cases, a cult like following.

But.....

Why should a lot of new people pay to subscribe to his service when they can get good money making ideas here...

FOR FREE! None of our regular posters here are selling anything!

That's right. Always follow the money and the motive for what's been going on quickly makes sense.

In recent months, he'd visit here (now and then) challenging this post or that. Nothing that really interested me enough to get into a discussion. But late last week, I finally obliged and began to debate him a little on inflation vs deflation.

It wasn't much of a debate.<lol> While I took the exercise seriously enough to offer some well evidenced arguments? All I got from his end was cliches and slogans.

Strange? Well, I thought so. But as soon as I expressed my reluctance to continue with what was obviously a waste of time for me? A group of his co-posters/subscribers who'd followed him over here from this other thread (and who rarely post here) immediately started the personal attacks against me late Friday and Saturday while I was gone for the weekend.

When I got back this morning, it was funny at first. I've had most of these clowns on permanent ignore for a long time. They'd gotten angry that Slider and I correctly called a sector top in their precious metals stocks back in January and sulked away to another thread that works exclusively with precious metals. We don't.

Anyway, the bashing pace picked up today as soon as I made an attempt to get a disclaimer from this news letter writer vis a vis the trash his followers were posting which was scaring away our regular contributors to SD II. Been many hours, and still no answer from him. But the pace of the attacks really took off immediately after I posted to him. So obviously I hit a nerve.

And of course there are always a few lose nuts that nobody here has ever heard of who show up where ever they hear a dust up is in progress. And we're already seen one or two of those <ghosts> already.

So there you have it, FWIW<lol>

Never a dull moment on the web.
