i also deleted the reg key in win2000... but i'm running a full system AV scan and that's impacting the browsing, so no signs of immediate improvement.

it will be great if the tweak actually improves browser performance, and opening files across the network

Thanks former Joe,

I have saved that fix and applied it to SP3 and worked fine.
After updating to SP4 there is no value in that key, so the
update carried it over from SP3. I guess it has to be either the ZA or SP4 which causing the prob. Will have to do it by eliminating one by one or go to Linux. It's a corker, otherwise the system works fine, love the W2Kpro.

Alex

SLJB,

Update,

I went back to the registry, the key in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace was deleted and showed
Default with no value set. I again clicked delete on it, which was denied, but to my surprise all is FINE now.
Rebooted and tried it several times in the row and is WORKING like a charm.

The lesson I learned, after installing an update such as SP4, go back and check your settings, some might appear correct, but one never can be sure. We always learn something.

Again, thanks for your help and happy computing.

Alex
