As I said, my beliefs have been influenced by all my experiences--just as have yours. That includes meditation, standing on my head, jumping out of a plane, and eating sardines. My beliefs are the conscious ordering of my experience into meaningful opinions about the truth of things. Makes sense. The full answer was: "not in the sense of being certain of anything". There are, however, less stringent ways of using the word "enlightened...so your "no" is not a particularly helpful amendment to my choice of words for MY answer How about "enlightened intellect" or "enlightened mind"? Just a little joke..no offense (really). One of the problems in much mental illness is the inability of people to differentiate and respect boundaries. This inability can blur or obliterate both conscience and empathy. Healthy people have healthy boundaries. They know where "self" ends and where "other" begins, and they are able to respect boundaries and forego intrusiveness. You are right. We should not argue about our own personal experiences. They are not the same. They can never be the the same. Unless one can find the "Matrix" <g>, what point is there to waste mental energy. Our minds are only wired for our own experiences. For me to accept your answers or the other way around would be incredible stupidity. And about that comment about union with the Whole. I guess what I was trying to say was the search for answers to our existence. As my search rest beyond my intellect, there is really no way for me to tell what this experience really is. I guess I was not expecting a disection of this phrase. I cannot see MY answers coming from an intellectual exercise....and if someone thinks they can find answers to their questions through the intellect, that is OK too as each person is unique. How could one transfer their experiences to another? Can't happen as far as I know. Whatever works. Only the individual can know whether they have found answers to their questions. I really learned something from this discussion.
