Orca, I think that one thing is clear from the approach advocated by the Bush wing; the Bush wing's view of world reality is badly skewed. Their "take what we want-big club" approach sadly overestimates the power of conventional weaponry in a war against terrorists fueled by big ideas.

The MOST BENEFICIAL thing we could have done to HELP the cause of international religious and political terrorists was to use our massive power in a way that gave a face to innocent maimed and dead Muslim women and children. In the face of this readily apparent truth, the Bush people preemtively attacked a sovereign Muslim nation based on, in the world's view, (and the emerging U.S. view,) false and exaggerated claims. Following a one-sided war the Bush administration has left itself wide open to claims that it never initially planned for, cared about or even funded any measures to take over the necessary civil functions of the regime it destroyed. All this at a great post-war price paid by the Iraqis.

The basis of the Bush policy is lust for the exercise of power by those who wield it. The power, however, has limits that they are belatedly beginning to recognize. Whatever means they now employ, however, it is clear that they are not the kind of far thinking, clear thinking and inspiring leaders that should be leading the most powerful and greatest nation in the world.

Give me a clear thinking leader with no baggage. Where are you General Clark?
