I have great sympathy for Israelis who are being slaughtered by suicide bombers. If you could go to the American people and say "we will commit the bulk of our troops to a war in Iraq that will end up costing hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of US wounded and dead so that Saddam cannot write a check to the families of suicide bombers in Israel" -- and if, having said that, Americans said "we are with the President 100% on this issue of the bombings in Israel and are prepared to do this for Israel" - if you did all of that then I would go along with the idea. Personally I think you would get about 3% of the American public to go along with it -- that was why all the other bullshit was needed to get people to back Bush on this war.
