The Kurds have been living under the protection of the no-fly zone for some time and achieved a high degree of autonomy as a result. Saddam is a butcher -- make no mistake about it -- but do remember that he butchered the Kurds in large part because we egged them on to overthrow Saddam, and when the going got rough we put our tail between our legs and left the Kurds to die.
