Cisco News: biz.yahoo.com

"Cisco Systems said the $400 million charge represents the amount of variable compensation from April 2001 through July. It said the charge is based on the value of Andiamo Systems employee stock and options and their expected vesting after adopting FIN 46 under an independent evaluation...
After the adoption of FIN 46, Cisco Systems said the changes to the value of Andiamo Systems and continued vesting of the employee stock and options will result in adjustments to the noncash stock compensation charge and will be reflected as operating expenses."

This news is particularly interesting to this thread because Cisco is basically expensing stock options given to Andiamo. It's interesting that they won't do the same with all their other stock options. Very inconsistent treatment, if you ask me.
