your premise is that men should deny their biological imperative for some social convention Er, yes. I believe the social convention at issue is called "civilization." Just as I expect men to forego vigilantism in favor of the justice system when a family member is assaulted, I expect men to exercise their "biological imperative" in acceptable ways. It's not like there aren't sufficient acceptable ways available. You seemed content to deny the "biological imperative" of the man who, in our earlier discussion, was inclined to rape your daughter. Yes, directing our natural urges appropriately and even stifling them seems reasonable to me, and in the long term best interests of all of us.
