Neocons like to 'reinvent' history, twisting it to their needs. Your single datapoint does not an argument make - that there was significant resistance against the Allies in post-WWII Germany, thus somehow 'normalizing' the quagmire we're in in Iraq.

Similarly, neocons like to rewrite history in many places: WWII, McCarthy, Vietnam, even the founding fathers. The post-Holocaust mantra was "those who forget history are doomed to repeat it". The Neocon mantra is "well, in that case, just rewrite it".

Hey, with enough re-writes, you can convince yourself that we WON in Vietnam.
