Indians have an eyeball to eyeball confrontation with a nuclear Pakistan, Sharon has derailed serious efforts of Musharraf to establish ties with Israel, siding with the mega regional power who so far has always supported Arafat and may continue to do so in future due to political realism and severe Arab dependency of India due to migrant workers Sharon has lost an opportunity to get the recognition of the strongest Islamic nation, recognition of Pakistan would have helped Israel establish ties with the entire Muslim block plus the Islamic bomb potential vis a vis Israel would be completely defused. The last thing Israel needs is new animosities; in my opinion the timing and results of the trip are in no way helpful for Israel, India and Israel any way maintain a close relationship to rub it on the region was unwise. Arafat is a long standing close bedfellow of India brothers and has very strong ties with political establishment within India, the political coup that Israel expects will backfire in my humble opinion, the region wants pacifying influences and not new foolish realignments.
