I'm horrible at keeping my records straight. Before I had a house and investments and when I didn't make as much I only needed a few records and a 1040EZ form but now taxes are very difficult for me.

I think there are levels of preparation - some just hand it all off, others feel better if they do all the detail work [I do the detail work just to make sure nothing is missed]

using a tax accountant might also depend on how simple or complicated your tax return is

I go the tax accountant route for two reasons - one, they are up on all the latest/changing tax laws - two, if I make a mistake, it is a check and balance system

it's a personal preference comfort thing I think

pssssst, that was my pm, asking you to 'go in business' with me again

thanks for helping spread the word on breast cancer prevention via the simple but stinging mammogram

The way I do my taxes is that each March I gather all the scraps of paper that are mailed to me, sit down with TurboTax, and fill in the blanks until all the scraps of paper are dealt with. Whatever comes out, that's what I submit. Works for me.
