Women have been abused by the justice system forever. Um, I differ. In fact, for many centuries women were especially protected by the justice system. And today still are in some cases. Let me bring up just one example. In Washington if a parent can work but chooses not to, they have to pay child based on an imputed income level. But the table for men imputes a higher income than that for women. So if a guy isn't working and his wife who has the kid makes $2,000 a month, he will pay more child support than would be the case if he had the kid adn the job and she wasn't working. Absolutely clear gender inequality. Protecting women, nothing else. I agree that this is only one example. But there are lots of statistics that show, for example, that for the same criminal acts women tend to get shorter sentences than men, and tend more often to benefit from plea bargains. And when police go to a house on a DV complaint and both parties claim that the other one started it, guess who gets arrested 90% of the time? Right. The guy. Sure, there are cases on the other side. But the idea that our justice system is slanted toward woman is, I think wrong. Heck, look at the relative percentages of men and women in jail or prison. If any school system had that inbalance of gender, people would be screaming. But not for prison. Demand equality. Demand afirmative action in our prison system. Demand that two women be sent to jail for every man sent until the numbers are equalized. Just like in the work force. A new cause for feminists demanding equal treatment!
