I read the original article yesterday. I wonder who "spiked" the line? And why?

NOW ISN'T THAT INTERESTING ... Yesterday, I noted an AP article on Afghan commemorations of the two-year anniversary of the death of Ahmed Shah Massood. I noted that it was encouraging that, according to the article, schoolgirls were carrying signs reading "Death to Osama!" Both Glenn Reynolds and Pejman Yousefzadeh quoted the article at length, including that line.

So imagine my surprise when reader KHH pointed out that the AP seems to have removed that bit from the article . Frankly, it seems hard for me to believe that the AP's editors didn't think those banners were newsworthy. I have no idea why they would have cut mention of them from later versions of the story.
