Arnold's Ex Writes Tell-All Book The former girlfriend of California gubernatorial hopeful Arnold Schwarzenegger has written a tell-all memoir detailing their five-year relationship that took place between 1969 and 1974, reports Reuters. Titled "Surviving Arnold," the book by Barbara Outland Baker, who is now a professor of English at a community college in California, is billed as an insider's account of Arnold's early years. The two actors: How does Arnold compare to Ronald Reagan? Check out this fun and interactive comparison that includes an amazing shot of Arnold as a young body builder. There's just one problem: Barbara Outland Baker still needs a publisher. Her agent, Paul Levine, is working on that. He told Reuters, "She's been writing it for years, but obviously now is an opportune time to try to sell it. There are lots of insights and never-before-told things about Arnold, and there are over 100 never-before published photographs of Arnold during that time." The two met at a Santa Monica restaurant at which Barbara was working while she attended college. Eventually, they moved in together. When Arnold wrote his own memoir, "Arnold: The Education of a Bodybuilder," way back in 1977 (the same year he met Maria Shriver), he warmly described Barbara Outland. He said his friends teased him about Barbara, saying "Arnold's in love." In his memoir, Arnold blamed their break-up on his own ambition. "Basically it came down to this. She was a well-balanced woman who wanted an ordinary, solid life, and I was not a well-balanced man and hated the very idea of ordinary life. For me life is continuously being hungry. The meaning of life is not simply to exist, to survive, but to move ahead, to go up, to achieve, to conquer." But timing is everything and even if book agent Levine manages to peddle the manuscript to a publisher, it's unlikely it would be on bookstore shelves before the October 7 special election in California recalling Gov. Gray Davis. On the other hand, if Schwarzenegger wins the election, this book could become a bestseller.
