Dean got a ton of publicity in August. He won't get that again. It is someone else's turn now.

Dean is a fine Bush-basher and appeals to both the anti big party Bradley voters as well as the Nader types. Right now he appears to have all the momentum, but that might give you the false impression he's the real leader.

Remember, Dean has the anti-war left to himself with minor league Kucinich and the war is going badly. But nationally, people still believe the war was justified, no matter how bad Bush screwed it up. Dean knows this and it's why he's tlaking military stuff now, but he's no expert and everyone knows it. Besides, his base doesn't like him talking about military aggresiveness.

Kerry splits his support five waysnow . Eventually, Kerry will get endorsed by the other four as they drop out and more. That may take 9 months. The more moderate powers in the Demp party who want to beat Bush don't want Dean nominated. He is simply too vulnerable. He reminds one of Dukakis a lot. No one wants to take that risk again. Remember Dukakis once led Bush Sr. in the polls but ended up losing it all. Kerry can keep that from happening. And most Dean supporters also support Kerry so you don't lose anything.
