lb, I saw your husband on tv tonight. he was on 60 minutes II, and he looked good. it was a retrospective on the days after 9/11. have you thought about what you are going to do when you leave the white house in 17 months?

Laura: Thanks for your comments. I agree with them in every way. Patron, Mike Burke, Mish, and several other valued posters are the reason why I read and post here myself. Over the last year or two, I have become aware of the fact that there is a remarkably large group of lurkers that keep track of this thread and they do so because it is one of the few places where a good cross section of conflicting views, both bullish and bearish are aired. Even though putting up with some obnoxious types can be trying at times, personally, I still think that the more tolerant of divergent views the thread can be, the more valuable it is likely to be. That said, and even though Luc and I occasionally clash on just this issue, it isn't all bad to have a guy like him keeping a degree of control over things. One thing that I know he does much more frequently these days is to allow miscreants back on after a "cooling-off" period. This makes sense to me. Now do your neighbours and friends know you are hanging out with a bunch of "thugs"? (g) Welcome aboard and please feel free to contribute your own ideas. We need input from a broad cross section of folks here. Best, Earlie
