follow up for anyone interested in NAV2004pro installation experiences....

this install went on a win2000pro operating system.

i decided to go with the instructions in the manual and they turned out to be correct.

i did *not* uninstall NAV2003 (which on my machine is an integral component within Norton Systemworks 2003).

during the very early moments of the install, a dialog popped up stating that another antivirus program had been detected and symantec recommended that i remove it. whether it was detecting Kaspersky AntiVirus (which was *not* running memory resident, so i am doubtful that that was the case) or the existing copy of NAV2003, i am not certain. but whatever it was detecting, i selected ignore and proceeded with the install of 2004.

lo and behold a dialog soon popped up stating that 2004 would uninstall the previous version if i wanted it to. of course i said yes, and off it went, efficiently and effectively removing registry entries and all.

one quick reboot and one quick liveupdate session and i am now performing a full system scan with NAV2004.

i was asked during set up if i wished to retain my 2003 settings and i said yes. i flipped through them afterwards to confirm that everything was as desired.

it was.

i was also given three product activation choices... activate, activate and register, skip it for now. i chose the first option.

my plan is to next follow the same install process on my winxp box. hopefully all goes as smoothly.

i will report back any successes or failures, until i put everyone sound to sleep.

:)
