From what I've read and my understanding of wireless security, I don't trust it either.

But a lot of people apparently trust it enough?

The Netgear wireless router that I bought a couple of weeks ago offers the choice wireless/wired. I have a notebook that I debated getting a wireless nic for. After thinking about it I ran hardwire downstairs to the room that I'm most likely to use the notebook computer in. Until I feel that the security issues are addressed to my satisfaction I'm staying away from adding a wireless device to my network.

To each his own.
