Oh come on, look at the bright side.

Dead, cremated, your ashes scattered, what a bargain! No health insurance needed! Cheer up! Be patient and your troubles will be over.

My own idea of happiness right now is gold at $500, crude at $60, natural gas at $12, and the Dow at 5000. Oh yes, I forgot, and the dollar in the toilet. What fun!

No, it's a comprehensive plan. My plan has a $500 deductible, with an 80/20 co-pay with a maximum out of pocket (for the two of us) per calendar year of $2500. Numerous things like regular preventative checkups and ER visits are included without a co-pay or a small co-pay ($10) and aren't subject to a deductible.

I don't have a drug plan simply because almost all the prescription plans I've seen are dollar swaps. I'd rather save (invest) the premium difference and pay for my own drugs (I so rarely need them). Only once in the last fifteen years I've had the plan have I even made the damned deductible because almost everything I've needed medical attention for was an accident which required a trip to the ER. My husband has a chronic condition which required numerous specialists and tests as well as regular drug treatments. He's made the deductible a few times but this is after years and years of never needing a damned thing from our insurance. I believe in covering for the worst case not the routine case. You are always better off covering the routine out of pocket.

You might be surprised what you can find if you are willing to have a MAX out of pocket expense (not deductible) of 10k a year or so. I have a plan that cost $125 a month for 3 people. Of course you can forget about trying this if you have any preexisting conditions.
